Connect Bluesky
Connect Bluesky with an app password (not your main password). Signal verifies the handle and stores the credential encrypted.
Last updated June 14, 2026
Bluesky connects with an app password — a scoped credential you generate in Bluesky's settings. Signal never asks for your main Bluesky password.
Step by step
- 1Create an app password in Bluesky
In Bluesky, go to Settings → App Passwords and create one for Signal. Copy it; you won't see it again.
- 2Add the Bluesky identity in Signal
On Accounts, choose Bluesky, enter your handle, and paste the app password. Signal resolves the handle to confirm the account.
- 3Verify
Signal verifies the session. A handle mismatch is surfaced rather than allowing a wrong-account publish.
Troubleshooting
- "credentials missing" when connecting.
- The app password field was empty or whitespace. Re-generate the app password in Bluesky and paste it again.
